Puntagorda puertoDeze pagina in Nederlands
The Puerto of Puntagorda is not a harbour as such but a landing place used by fishermen in the summer months. There is a stairway of 465 concrete steps from the nearest road down to the sea. At the bottom is a small natural pool with an ingenious channel system to keep the water fresh.
There are summer houses built into caves in the cliffs which have been used tradionally as weekend and summer houses by local families for generations. Unfortunately some souless pen-pusher in Madrid has decided that they have to go is ordering the local council to demolish them. Protest actions are continuing in an attempt to save them but the b@$#*&ds will probably win in the end and will destroy yet another of the traditions which make/made La Palma so unique.
