The telescopes at the Roque de Los Muchachos are run by 2 different organisations, representing several different countries. At 2450 meters above sea level the air quality is excellent, but a bit thin. Most of the 'thinking work' is better done in the offices in Santa Cruz, at sea level. The buildings are not open to the public except 3 or 4 times each summer on Open Days. |
