The Caldera de Taburiente is the largest erosion crater in the world. At its highest point it is 2545m above sea level and drops to about 1200m innthe center and sea-level where the river-bed runs out into the sea.
Its is a very popular location for walking. There are routes within the Caldera and walking routes around the top edge of the crater.
There are several companies that offer organised walks.
Individual walkers wanting to enter the Caldera MUST obtain permission from the Caldera Information office. |
